Choose your Funguy
Funguys Swarm opens with Shroomba and Ersa, the original pair from Early Access. Shroomba is the sturdy melee leader; Ersa is the Water Freeze specialist and the gentlest first clear. Later unlocks include Nutcase, Groovba, Joomba, Fuzzbug, X-olotl, NutsNBoltz, Chimpy, and the 1.0 trio Dr. Botanika, Mr. Midnight, and Steve.

Master the elements
There are seven elements: Beast, Water, Sky, Night, Nature, Earth, and Fire. Each element has distinct skills and mutation paths. The key to success is combining skills that share the same trigger type — dash skills, weapon attack skills, or cooldown skills all amplify each other when stacked.

Navigate the Forest Sanctuary
Between arena runs you return to the Forest Sanctuary. Here you permanently upgrade weapons and skills, equip pets, and unlock Treelings. Use the Shroom Shop and Starpath quests to earn new relics and abilities. Sanctuary upgrades persist across all future runs.

Conquer the arenas
Each arena has unique biomes and enemy compositions. Carrot Farm and Frozen Pond are the first arenas, followed by Lava Jungle and Egglosseum. The final arena Hellscape awaits after completing the game. Pay attention to boss phases and use Freeze or Shock effects to control enemies.

Defeat the Fire King
The Fire King is the final boss of Hellscape, the last arena. Use Forest Strength upgrades earned from previous arenas to improve your survival odds. Combine Earth and Water skills for maximum crowd control and sustained damage. Recommended Treelings: Slo Moe, Dashy, and Macho.

Treelings are companions unlocked at the Sanctuary Tree. Up to three Treelings can be equipped simultaneously, each offering different bonuses: Magnetika for resource gathering, Slo Moe for enemy projectile slowdown, Dashy for dash charge refunds, and Macho for emergency health recovery.
How does Forest Strength work?
Forest Strength is a meta-progression system. Each completed arena grants permanent upgrades that carry over to all future runs. At Forest Strength Level 4, you can ban one card type from appearing during level-ups, dramatically improving your build consistency.
