Funguys Swarm Character Tier List
Which Funguys Swarm character is best? Updated rankings for solo arena performance.
Character Tier List Overview
This tier list reflects the current 1.0 meta for solo arena performance, considering damage output, crowd control, survivability, and ease of build creation. Every character in Funguys Swarm can complete every arena — tier rankings reflect optimization ceilings, not absolute viability.
S Tier — Top Performers
Ersa is the highest-tier character. Her Water-element affinity gives her inherent access to Freeze effects, providing unmatched crowd control. She is one of the two original starters and the recommended first clear.
Shroomba sits in S for new and returning players who prefer melee. Iron Shroom and the Watermelon Axe are readable, and trophies already exist around Dragonfruit kills and 10,000 enemy takedowns.
Dr. Botanika is the strongest of the three 1.0 Ube-sentry characters. Ube automatically applies Shock to nearby enemies every three seconds. Her skill synergies favor Sky-element cards and Cooldown Reduction.
A Tier — Strong Performers
Mr. Midnight ranks in the high A tier due to his unique damage scaling mechanic. Ube’s magnet picks up XP automatically, granting stacks that increase damage by one percent per Night Card owned.
Fuzzbug earns a solid A tier through Night-scaling pixies. The March 2026 Optimization Update changed pixies to one per Night card, raised damage scaling from 15% to 35%, and widened orbit radius from 300 to 500.
Nutcase is A for players who can chain dashes. Nut N Run and Bramble Roots turn Egglosseum into his home arena.
B Tier — Viable Performers
X-olotl occupies the B tier due to its high skill ceiling. Every four Beast cards spawn a copy at 50% weapon damage, dash cooldown drops 5% per Beast card, and a dash grants +50% attack speed for two seconds.
Steve ranks in the B tier. His automatic upgrade preference for Water cards makes him effective in Water-element focused builds.
Joomba is B when you can find three-second stillness windows. After standing still he gains +50% damage plus +5% per Sky card.
NutsNBoltz is B in Earth mecha runs. Nuts in the arena charge mecha by 5% and grant movement speed.
C Tier — Situational Picks
Chimpy is a C-tier Armor specialist. All HP converts to Armor, hearts stop dropping, and taking a hit while armored explodes for 100 damage plus 20% per Nature card.
Groovba is a Nature-element character whose debuffs deal +20% damage per Nature card, with a 2% half-heart drop on debuff kills. The current meta does not favor Nature as heavily as Water and Night.
The secret character is unlockable only by completing the full game — defeating the Fire King in Hellscape. See the Fire King guide before you farm that unlock.
