System Requirements

Platforms and the 1.0 SKU

Funguys Swarm is a single-player survivor from Stairway Games. Version 1.0 launched on August 25, 2026 on Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Microsoft Store. Launch price was $9.99 with a 20% discount through September 8, 2026. Soundtrack DLC is a separate $1.99 purchase. Steam reviews sat at 974-plus and Very Positive, with 112 Steam achievements. None of those storefronts share saves.

If you only need combat help, leave this page and open How to Play or controls. This page is the hardware list: what Steam publishes for PC, what Valve signed for Deck, what 1.0 put in living rooms, and which settings March 2026 added so a GTX 960 can still see Appletini.

PC minimum — 720p30

Steam’s minimum block:

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit (64-bit processor and OS required)
  • CPU: Intel i3-7100 or equivalent
  • RAM: 4 GB
  • GPU: Nvidia GTX 960
  • Note: minimum for a 720p 30 FPS experience

That is not a 1080p promise. Egglosseum roosters and Hellscape pillars will hitch if you ignore Quality Presets. The March 2026 Optimization Update exists because late swarms used to freeze for seconds. CPU work recovered those spikes within one to two seconds, but a 4 GB / GTX 960 box still wants the lowest preset, outlines on, and ground splatter off so breakable Dew pots stay visible.

Storage is not listed on the Steam minimums block. Community disk checks around a 3 GB download and about 5 GB on disk are useful for SSD planning, not a substitute for the official row.

Steam’s recommended block:

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • CPU: Intel i7-8700K or equivalent
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • GPU: Nvidia RTX 2060
  • Note: recommended for a 1080p 60 FPS experience

Recommended is the target for Lava Jungle lava plus Potato Bot explosions plus Flaming Slice Burn numbers. Damage Number Speed is a readability slider, not a replacement for GPU headroom. If you still drop frames on RTX 2060, you are probably on a 4K television pretending to be a monitor; use a preset.

Steam Deck Verified

Funguys Swarm is Steam Deck Verified. Left stick moves, right stick aims, jump dashes, Options pauses. March increased font size and UI visibility specifically for Deck. CPU swarm work was demoed with Deck comparison shots in the official blog. Handheld play is the same single-player run as desktop. It is not a cloud-save bridge to PS5.

Controls cover auto-fire (GameSpew says leave it on) and auto-aim. Deck trackpads can replace a mouse; a drifting right stick will fire into empty ice on Frozen Pond. Quality Preset plus enemy outline is the Deck survival kit for Chicken Caesar.

Key rebinding was announced as next work after March. Do not expect a shipped remap menu in 1.0. WASD and Space remain the PC language; Deck uses the verified layout.

Consoles and other PC stores

PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 shipped with 1.0. Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store PC builds use the same minimum/recommended idea as Steam. Accounts do not merge. Starpath progress, Forest Strength, and Shroom Shop relics stay in that silo.

Console TVs want the in-game cursor toggle and slower damage numbers. Switch 2 and Deck share the handheld problem: small screen, dense fruit. Outlines are not optional if you cannot tell a Peashooter from a crop.

Settings that are part of “requirements” now

March QoL is hardware-adjacent:

  • Quality Preset
  • Damage Number Speed
  • In-Game Cursor
  • Enemy Outline
  • Enemy Ground Splatter

Banish rework, three-hit breakables, and Rare-minimum chests do not change GPU load. Fuzzbug pixie orbit changes and Dragonfruit VFX fixes do. If Dragonfruit hitching was your bug, update past March.

What you do not need

You do not need a second controller for a second player. The game is single-player. You do not need the soundtrack DLC to meet specs; $1.99 buys music. You do not need 112 achievements installed as files; they are Steam overlay trophies. You do not need every weapon unlocked to run the executable. You do need a 64-bit Windows 10 install on PC, or a Verified Deck, or a 1.0 console.

Starters Shroomba and Ersa will run on minimum hardware. Fire King on Hellscape is where you feel the difference between 720p30 and 1080p60. If the swarm is the bottleneck, blame CPU and presets first, then debuffs you cannot see because outlines were off.

Buy the game on the device you will actually finish Starpath on. Then set the preset, set auto-fire, and go fight produce.
