Relics Guide

Relics as run-long contracts

Relics are loadout items you buy in the Forest Sanctuary Shroom Shop, then carry into a single-player arena. They are not a second skill bar. They rewrite the economy of a run: how Commons pay, how often you dash, how Fire Curses pay, how shrines behave. Funguys Swarm 1.0 launched on August 25, 2026 from Stairway Games; the relic list you see at 1.0 still traces to the December 2025 Starpath Update trio plus older shop pieces such as Diamondcap. Mix-and-match weapons on any hero does not replace a relic — it just means Shroomba’s Watermelon Axe and Ersa’s Freeze kit can wear the same cap.

This page covers the four relics the official blogs documented in detail: Commoncap, Dashspores, Hellcap, and Diamondcap. Other shop relics exist in 1.0’s broader inventory; treat those as extra tools and come back here for the caps that actually changed how decks are built. Pair relics with Starpath quests, Fire Curses, and Treeling slots rather than stacking every cap at once.

Starters are Shroomba and Ersa. Dash-first Nutcase wants Dashspores. Curse farmers want Hellcap. Common-heavy Carrot Farm loops want Commoncap. Shrine-heavy Frozen Pond or Lava Jungle routes want Diamondcap after March.

Commoncap

Original December text: for every Common weapon upgrade card you have, you deal +5% more damage. That version rewarded a specific habit — saying yes to Common weapon cards instead of waiting for Epic mutations.

The March 2026 Optimization Update rewrote the counter. Commoncap now calculates from all Common cards, including Weapon, Skill, and Passive. A deck stuffed with Common passives is no longer a wasted relic slot. Banish still matters: after March you can banish several cards before you pick, so you can dump an off-element Epic and keep a Common that feeds the cap. Chests now drop Rare minimum, which slightly fights Commoncap by reducing accidental Commons from boxes. The relic still wins on long runs that fill the deck with Commons from regular level-ups.

Use Commoncap on best-build experiments that do not require Legendary purity. Skip it when you are forcing a thin Legendary skill core.

Dashspores

Dashspores grants +2 dash charges and increases dash cooldown by 25%. The extra charges are real i-frames and real dash-trigger fuel. The cooldown tax is real too. Controls still map dash to Space or the jump button; Dashspores does not add a second dash key. Key rebinding was listed as next work after March, not as a shipped menu.

Nutcase is the obvious wearer: Nut N Run and Bramble Roots scale with dash frequency, and Egglosseum’s chicken ring is built for that rhythm. Any dash-trigger stack on X-olotl or a 1.0 mix-and-match loadout benefits. Joomba standing still for Sky damage does not. If your character tier pick never spends charges, Dashspores is a 25% slower panic button you paid Dew for.

Protectron’s March rework (armor every 15 / 13 / 10 levels) is a better defensive pair than Dashspores if you only wanted to live. Dashspores is offense disguised as mobility.

Hellcap

December Hellcap: each Fire Curse gives +10% damage, but HP drops expire after six seconds. That was a timer you could outplay with magnet routing.

March Hellcap: each Fire Curse still gives +10% damage, but the relic now reduces the chance of HP spawns by half instead of applying a timer. You cannot outrun a spawn rate. Hearts simply appear less often. That is a harsher contract for Hellscape and for Catfish on Frozen Pond when ice already steals positioning.

Wear Hellcap when you already understand Fire Curse levels and you have Macho or other sustain. Do not wear it on a first Appletini learning run. Dew and Starpath multipliers from curses are the reason the cap exists; the damage is the bonus, not the excuse.

Diamondcap

Official March notes say Diamondcap now affects Shrines as well. January 2026 added Shrines as stand-in interactables: linger to get a reward, including Funguy Evolutions that used to appear on a timer. Diamondcap becoming shrine-aware means your relic loadout finally talks to that routing layer. If a Starpath node wants shrine claims, Diamondcap is no longer a “maybe later” shop skip.

March also returned breakables (Dew, Shroom, XP, three hits) instead of some shrine-style resource spawns. Diamondcap did not become a breakable relic. It became a shrine relic. Plan routes with both: smash pots for Dew, stand in shrines when Diamondcap is on.

Loadout rules that actually hold

One relic that matches the run beats three relics that argue with each other. Commoncap plus a curse-heavy Hellcap deck is legal and greedy. Dashspores plus Hellcap on Nutcase in Egglosseum is a coherent story: dash the roosters, accept fewer hearts, kill Chicken Caesar faster. Diamondcap plus Commoncap is a farming kit for Carrot Farm loops.

NutsNBoltz Mecha charge from Nuts (5% per nut) does not replace a relic. Smarty still charges Mecha faster as a Treeling. Relics sit beside Treelings, not on top of them. Check the shop after every arena. 1.0 added more relics to the inventory; if a name is not Commoncap, Dashspores, Hellcap, or Diamondcap, read the card in-game rather than inventing numbers.

Soundtrack DLC at $1.99 does not include extra relics. Launch price $9.99 with 20% off through September 8, 2026 does not include extra relics either. Dew does. Spend it on the cap that matches the arena you are about to enter, then go fight enemies and bosses with a contract you actually wanted.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions about Funguys Swarm.

Where do I get relics in Funguys Swarm?

Relics are primarily purchased from the Shroom Shop in the Forest Sanctuary with Dew and related currencies. Some also sit behind Starpath nodes. Inventory refreshes between runs, so check the shop after every arena clear.

What does Commoncap do after March 2026?

Commoncap still grants +5% damage per qualifying Common card. The March 2026 Optimization Update made it count all Common cards — Weapon, Skill, and Passive — instead of weapon upgrade cards only.

Is Dashspores good on every character?

Dashspores adds two dash charges and increases dash cooldown by 25%. It is excellent on Nutcase and any dash-trigger stack. It is a tax on Joomba-style statue play that never spends charges.

Should I run Hellcap on a first Fire King clear?

Usually no. Hellcap still gives +10% damage per Fire Curse, but March replaced the six-second HP drop timer with a halved HP spawn chance. That is a survival tax. Clear Hellscape once, then add Hellcap when you already understand Fire King tells.

What did Diamondcap gain in March 2026?

Diamondcap now also affects Shrines, not only the interactions it already modified. If your route leans on shrine standing time, Diamondcap became a routing relic as well as a combat one.
